NOAH D & FOCUS ''WATER SONG'' (RESOLUTE)
The long-awaited 002 for Resolute plunges deep into the trenches, showing the flipside of rising star Noah D's production prowess. Noah aligns with Focus for the heavy half-time subwoofer workout that is ''Water Song''. The surprising thing about this is that the actual drums in this don't knock, nor do they need to - they recreate the sound of water dripping on your window pane, and that fuzzy bassline is the thunder cutting through the dark clouds at night. Really awesome stuff. On the flipside, Noah D turns the heat all the way up with ''Fire Song'', playing the perfect contrast to ''Water Song''. While this track still maintains that gutter half-time flex, the bassline is sharper here, hanging around, making sure it scorches you before it moves to the next victim. It's hypnotic in its aggressiveness, but the fact that it's not all hectic drums adds to the sinister appeal of this one. Superb 12'' from a producer who is well on his way to the forefront.
