She's cute, but a LOT of work atm. Now I remember what having a newborn is like.

good luck with her. they are a handful. often too smart for their own good. she'll be testing you...a lot. great dogs, though. my weim is great with my
daughter, too. except when he steps on her head. they are slow to be learn to be house broken, too. it sucks having to carry them to do the door,
running so there isn't an accident. but, i'd rather do that than have to clean up the trail from the cage to the door.

also, when she gets bigger, look into getting a halti leader. it really calms my dog down, like when new people come over. also, he won't try and pull you
when i take him out for his walks. makes it really easy to control a large dog. and it's totally comfortable for the dog, too. http://www.allourpets.com/htmls/halticollar.shtml

do you exercise your dog a lot?
no offense, but most weimaraners are only destructive when they're left alone a lot and not exercised enough. i wanted a high energy dog that can keep up with me on long bike rides... that's one reason i got beatrice. the biggest reason is, she is quite possibly the cutest dog i have ever seen in my life and i wanted a german bitch, just like me and my mom. |

Halo isn't destructive. Just hyper around new people. and the halti really does make a HUGE difference in his hyper-ness.
Who's your favorite? Oh wait- that's me!

i'll put some pics up later. unfortunately, he doesn't get as much exercise as he probably should get. he's in his crate when we are not there.
otherwise, he's out with the family, where he needs to be. weims require that connection with the family. he isn't destructive at all. like aubrey
said, hyper around new people. the halti also keeps him from pulling on the leash when we walk. before we got the halti, heather wasn't able to keep him
from pulling forward and going where ever the hell he wanted to go. with the halti, he stays within a foot or so of you, where he's supposed to be. that
way, i'm leading the walk, not him. helps me to retain my control over him when we're walking, and keep the pace i want to keep.
also, about being destructive. many weims, even those who get all the exercise they need (and more), can become destructive. when we lived in charlotte, halo was exercised a lot; longs walks with at least 30 minutes a day in the open dog park, chasing a tennis ball at full speed. he got destructive once when he figured out how to get out of his crate, and he tried to paw his way out of our room, underneath the door. he pulled up the carpet, cut his paws on the tack strip, scratched up the door, etc. all this right after we got back from the park. it was SEPARATION ANXIETY, and some weims have it, some don't. halo does better when he has is own area to himself when we aren't home. he often times will go and lay down in his crate when we are home, too. it's a comfortable space for him to be in. good luck with your puppy! she's a cutie!! ![]() brian CHUMBAWUMBA!! |

your dog still has his tail?
he's cute! my dog will look exactly like that one day...minus the long tail. |
|||
overhere51 |

yes, he has his tail. when he gets excited, it looks like it turns into a helicopter propeller, and he's gonna take off. the person we got halo from
wasn't planning on having another litter (the one halo was from) for like 6 months, but daddy-doggy had other plans. broke out of his kennel and found
momma-dog. the breeder was having some heath problems at the time (lupus, i think) so they didn't have the funds together to get all the tails bobbed, so
they left them. they have to be done within like 8 days of birth. after that, it becomes an amputation (major surgery) and very painful for the dog.
so, he still has his tail. it sucks when he clears the coffee table off every once in a while with it, but other than that, fine. if the dog were going to be shown, points would be deducted for the natural tail. that's about the only reason to have it done...to stay in line with the "breed standard." but, if it's between a maintaining the breed standard and opting for an elective major surgery, he's keeping his tail. his balls, on the other hand, are long gone. they were HUGE! ![]() brian CHUMBAWUMBA!! |

does beatrice have a white patch on her chest? that was halo's "putty in your hands" spot when he was a puppy.

this is a more recent pic of halo. it's from march 31 of this year. his chest is a good bit broader than it was in the other pics.
